By Mr. Naseer Akhtar Published: 04/18/2009
Historical View of Mehandi (Henna). Many historical events show that Mehandi is the Art of Arabic Muslims who brought henna to Asia, where it has bloomed into its own exclusive art in style. In Pakistan mehandi artist applies designs conventionally to a woman's hands and feet. For particularly auspicious occasions, men also apply Mehandi. The most auspicious occasion justifying mehandi art-work is type of the Pakistani wedding, where both bride and groom apply henna (mehandi), and several members of the bridal party as well. Henna on any time symbolizes fruitfulness. At the wedding, henna (mehandi) art-work further represents the love between the both bride and groom.
Mehandi came into use because of its cooling healing effect in a hot weather conditions and in Asia, it was also a way for a bride and groom to get to know one another before an agreed marriage. A variety of traditions underlie the use of mehandi, including wedding games and legends. For example, the groom's name is usually written somewhere within the bride's mehandi; if he cannot find his name within the complicated design, the bride is said to have the command in the marriage. Also, a dark mehandi design for both bride and groom signifies that the two will have a strong relationship.
Introduction as Mehandi Designer. I am Mr. Naseer Ahmed (Chaand) born at Pakpatan (Punjab) on 06th March 1979. I belongs to a respectable landlord family, and is the only elder and earning member looking after his small family comprising upon 6 members. The aged father of has since been died. I developed my passion for creative art like mehendi, and designing, and also completed my graduation in Arts during 1998, and since then I have been linked with this popular business as a Chaand mehandi artist. My first brush with worldly fame was in the year 1998, when one of my many designs featured in a cover story in the Pakistani magazine. Now as a Mehandi Artist (Hinna) my name has become a known name as CHAAND due to its related field and the creative designs which have made me a popular Mehandi Artist in all over the cities of Pakistan.
The Chaand mehendi being my creative outlet, I developed many best designs for the close friends and family members and also for different occasions and the parties. I could not realize my own potential. However, people who knew me by working capacity and skills, have recognized my talent, and encouraged me to participate in a Mehendi Competitions, oftenly organized by the Woman's Clubs, Special functions and the Parties. I did my professional job up-to 80 hours continuously by doing mehandi art-work day and night without rest, which is remarkable performance; which needs recommendations for the book of world record.
My Chand Mehandi’s business flourished - not by advertising - but simply word-of-mouth publicity from extremely pleased clients. The clientele from Pakistani fashion models, movie stars, eminent personalities and hundreds of brides would stand by my practical job. The clients are not just restricted to Lahore, but as a artist, on many occasions I traveled to Karachi, Hyderabad, Multan, Peshawar and Islamabad on the client’s requests for Mehendi Designs. As a artist I have introduced the new look in existing mehandi (Hinna) functions in styles and designs.
Note: - For best results of color, mehandi should be applied two days before the occasion especially in case of marriages as it takes two days for the color to develop into its complete richness, preferably do not wet the hands for the two days. You may view some mehandi (Hinna) designs which have been shown in the picture gallery.
